Leeds has long sound-system roots: Iration Steppas played the West Indian Centre in Chapeltown and influenced the rave crews that followed. Sigma's two members met at drum & bass nights while at Leeds University.
Beaver Works hosts the large multi-room raves, Mint Warehouse runs label takeovers and all-nighters, and the O2 Academy and HiFi Club take the tours. Wire, the basement club many locals remember, closed in June 2024 after 18 years.
