Manchester's drum & bass story includes the late Marcus Intalex's Guidance night at Sankeys Soap and the Metropolis crew, founded in the late 1990s. Artists from the city include Dub Phizix, Strategy and Bou.

Hit & Run moved here from Oxford in 2006 and has been based at Hidden since 2016. The Warehouse Project at Depot Mayfield, named Major Venue of the Year at the 2026 Radio 1 Dance Awards, hosts the big label takeovers, while Gorilla, Joshua Brooks and SOUP carry the club nights.
