Sheffield's bleep techno, released on Warp Records from 1989, is often credited with pointing towards jungle, and bassline started here. The Tuesday Club has run at The Foundry since 1998, and Dillinja and Lemon D's Valve Soundsystem held weekend nights there.

Electric Studios opened in March 2026 in the former Leadmill building, and Forge, Network and the 120-capacity Plot 22 in the old Castle Market all host drum & bass.
